Paul Screach

VIEW WORKS

"As a visual artist I am interested in the unobservable. A universe of infinite space and possibilities.  As our solar system hurtles through the Milky Way at 230km per second we perceive no movement.  We are fascinated by the cosmos but we also look inward to atoms, molecules and cells to make sense of our world.  Biological processes creating new life and infinite outcomes. Evolution, adaptation and mutation. Microbes to manatee, mould to magnolias. What are the chances that mankind will make it through?

The continents drift, mountains rise and rivers change their course. Canyons form, exposing the geology. Our physical environment reshapes itself . . . but oh so slow.

I paint things I cannot see.  Things that are written about and theories we are taught.  These things are too small, too large, too fast or too slow to know firsthand.  The paintings reference these concepts but the materials themselves are not immune to the natural forces all around us."
